We do so by: Strengthening social networks of formerly incarcerated people, Creating spaces for formerly incarcerated people to share and discuss ideas, Changing social perceptions of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people, Changing incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people's views of themselves, Promoting and supporting prison and post-prison education, Demonstrating the value of our lived experience, Advocating for criminal justice policy change. | *We envision a society in which formerly incarcerated people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, and offense types pursue their dreams as educated and empowered citizens with valued experiences. Civil Survival
- Educate. Motivate. Liberate. The Civil Survival Workshops offer hope as well as a sense of community and purpose for returning citizens. Formerly incarcerated individuals are often isolated and hopeless. In our Civil Survival Workshops, formerly incarcerated individuals form bonds born of organizing for a cause bigger than themselves. The ongoing Game-Changer Groups are led by formerly incarcerated people and are designed to keep participants engaged in their community and constantly learning more about issues that interfere with their ability to re-engage in society.
