Voting

Office of the Secretary of State

  • If you were convicted of a felony in Washington State, your right to vote is restored as long as you are not under the authority (in prison or on community custody) of the Department of Corrections (DOC). Once your right is restored, you must re-register to vote in order to receive a ballot.

ACLU Voting

  • Individuals with adult felony convictions have their right to vote restored automatically once they have completed incarceration and any required Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) community custody. The right to vote is restored even if the person still owes court fines, restitution, or other legal financial obligations (LFOs). This pamphlet addresses some common questions regarding the voting rights of individuals with felony convictions. Even though they were leading law-abiding lives and were qualified for a particular job, they couldn’tBarber get a professional license and their careers were stalled. At some point we have to open the door to opportunity and allow people to move on with their lives so they contribute fully to our community and economy. The Certificate of Restoration of Opportunities Act (CROP), a bill developed to remove barriers to occupational licenses for qualified applicants who have a criminal history, aims to do just that.

Neighborhood Legal Clinic - King County Bar Association

  • The purpose of the Neighborhood Legal Clinics program (NLC) is to offer free, limited legal advice and referrals to King County residents and Washington State residents with legal issues in King County who might otherwise have no access to the legal system. It is a goal of the program to make the clinics accessible regardless of barriers such as income, education, language or disability.[50]

Union Gospel Mission Legal Services [54]

  • We're giving poor and homeless men and women a voice, so they can move on to the next stage of life. By clearing up their legal issues we equip them to leave chronic homelessness in the past. Our volunteer lawyers and paralegals meet with each client to hear their story. Then we help them build a plan to address the issue.
