Upper Skagit

The Upper Skagit people are descendants of aboriginal bands that inhabited 11 villages from the foothills of the Cascades to the Puget Sound. The Upper Skagit Reservation lies in the uplands of the Skagit River Valley, east of Sedro-Woolley in Skagit County and near Exit 236 along Interstate 5 just north of Burlington near Alger.

Departments and Services

Health services [2]

  • The Upper Skagit Tribal Health Clinic (Clinic) primarily provides (ambulatory) care and behavioral health services to eligible Upper Skagit Tribal Members, community members and members of other Federally Recognized Indian Tribes that reside in the Tribe’s service area.

Education [3]

  • The Education Department provides student assistance meeting the academic requirement, social needs of the Upper Skagit Community school-aged children. In addition, the Education Department operates programs for eligible students that wish to continue their education at higher education or vocational educational institution.

Elders, social and employment services [4]

  • Social and Employment Services goal is to provide a full array of services to assist clients in overcoming many of the barriers that keep them from achieving successful self-sufficiency.

Housing [5]

  • The Upper Skagit Housing Department assists low-income Upper Skagit Tribal members living in Skagit County. The Housing and Urban Development funded programs are income eligibility based. For applications or assistance with these programs, please contact the Housing Office at (360) 854-7011.
