Continuing in the same political vein, the Weekly served a more narrowly defined readership the small African American population of Seattle and environs. The paper concentrated on issues more than specific news stories, and also extolled the accomplishments of black people throughout the nation. Cayton had become disenchanted with the Republican Party but still tried to work within the organization to push for recognition and appreciation of the support African Americans continued to give to the GOP. While continuing to be completely dismissive of the Democratic Party, he aimed his substantive criticism at the Republicans. ====Essay Notes==== ===Research=== #[anchor|#1] [http://lcweb2.loc.gov/diglib/vols/loc.gdc.sr.sn91012092/default.html|Not located in Ayer annual] #[anchor|#2] [{UP}A1.2 NDNP CANDIdate TiTLes.pdf|NDNP Candidate Title List (Appendix A1.2)] #[anchor|#3] [http://www.loc.gov/chroniclingamerica/lccn/sn87093353|Chronicling America record (LOC) - Cayton's weekly] # [http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/23074613|WorldCat record - Cayton's weekly] # [http://cals.evergreen.edu/search/i?sn+87093353|WSL record - Cayton's weekly] # [http://uwashington.worldcat.org/oclc/17248379| UW record - Cayton's weekly] {top} ==Reel== * Filmed by: WSL * Positives held by: WSL; UW ** Call numbner: 11/94; A3152 ** Lib has: 1917 Jul 14-1921 Mar * Negatives held by: Proquest ===Notes=== (((Film ''is'' WSL film.
