Having survived fire, financial disasters, and feverish competition, the newspaper reported in July 1897 that gold had been discovered in the Klondike region. Beriah Brown Jr., son of a former Seattle mayor and P-I editor, first broke the news in an article [...]

[...] even numbered pages and left edge of the left column of odd numbed pages is illegible until April 16, 1891. Gutter shadow/distortion a problem throughout this reel. film eval notes 1893-10-12 1896-10-01 gutter shadow and information loss is still a problem at the edge of the pages. There are some out of focus pages (estimated 1 of 40 images is too blurry to read at beginning of reel. No duplicates present. This problem gets worse towards the end of the reel, with about 1 of 20 images blurry.) For the most part the contrast is good and very few images appear faded. Film [...]

[...] 3 , no. 43-. I was puzzled by the double numbering, but then I
counted things out on calendars for 1894-1897 and saw that yes, the June 10,
1897 issue would indeed have been v. 3, no. 43 of Ranch. I put a note in
the bib record about the double numbering in a 515 field. 2) They were both published in North Yakima. 3) Ranch (Seattle, Wash.) (.b4083895x), which is most definitely the title
that continues Ranche and range, has the very same slogan that appears on
Ranch (North Yakima, Wash.): "A journal of the land and the home in the New
West."

(Yakima, Wash.) 1884-1899 , but due to an error in the LC database I was unable to look up the number. There does seem to be a record for it, though! It should not be confused with the later Washington Farmer According to an oregon state university record, the Oregon Agriculturalist merged with another paper and changed its name to "Oregon agriculturist and the rural Northwest" in about 1896. I cannot find a record or number for this title. Also found no appropriate records or numbers for [...]

[...] dominated this area prior to the 1870s. English and Scandinavian settlers incorporated the city in 1891, but an economic depression caused the population to drop significantly by 1900. At this time, Dutch immigrants started arriving in Lynden, attracted by the area's potential for dairy farming. Most were members of the Christian Reformed Church and formed a closely-knit community-within-a-community. The town is still known for its Dutch-influenced culture. The first issue of the Lynden Tribune was published on June 9, 1908, by Charles D. Jones and H. E. Stuart. The [...]
