Vancouver Housing Authority

• Vancouver Housing Authority offers several programs and resources to help low-income families, elderly, and disabled in Clark County find housing that they can afford. Getting started can be a challenge, but we are here to help you find the resources you need. You may qualify for one or more housing assistance programs. It is best to begin with the program that best describes your situation. For example, veterans should get in touch with the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program, and people with chronic illness should learn more about our Special Needs housing program. Section 8 and Subsidized Housing programs are available for qualified applicants in our area. Other housing is available for low-income families and individuals even if you do not qualify for Section 8 vouchers or our subsidized housing programs. You may be able to find affordable housing in Clark County that you qualify for based on your income or situation.

Clark County Veterans Assistance Centers [19]

• Clark County Veterans Assistance Center (CCVAC) was born from many conversations by local Vietnam Veterans who said, “There oughta be a place…” Through the dedication of countless volunteered hours, the center opened in 2011 as a 501 c3 non-profit organization. The mission was, and remains that, of providing a welcome and safe environment to assist Veterans and their families in obtaining benefits, services, and resources to meet basic needs.

• The Veterans Assistance Fund administered by the Clark County Veteran’s Assistance Center offers financial assistance to low income, qualified veterans who need help. Council for the Homeless

• The Council for the Homeless is dedicated to helping everyone in Clark County have the opportunity for safe and affordable housing. Second Step Housing

• Second Step Housing began in 1995 because a group of concerned community members saw a need for safe, affordable housing for homeless women and children; short-term shelters did not give women enough time to adequately address problems and overcome barriers. A longer, more stable living situation was needed. With help from the County, a two-year transitional housing program under the name of YW Housing was started with one house serving three women. Today, Second Step Housing serves more than 225 individuals and families annually and has developed and manages 10 transitional housing properties and 42 units of affordable housing. We provide safe, affordable housing, case management and educational opportunities to adults, children and families who are working towards self-sufficiency. The agency partners with other nonprofits, local businesses, community members, and clients to help meet the housing needs of the community.

Community Services Northwest

• Our Mental Health Team consists of therapists who work together with clients to build awareness in the areas that each client would like to focus, teaching and learning new skills and ways of managing symptoms. Case Managers who help clients to learn and access community resources, including assistance with accessing benefits, care-giving, budgeting, housing and transportation. Peer Support specialists provide opportunities to collaborate and share feelings and experiences with someone who has been there.
• The Wellness Program Clark County’s only free mental health clinic serving non-insured adults in Clark County. All of our clients’ incomes fall below the federal poverty level. [66]
